<Dreams do come true>는 2024년부터 진행해온 프로젝트 <Kiss Swirlies> 인간과 인공지능의 미끄덩하면서 끈적끈적한 사랑 서사를 욕망의 인형(아바타), 꿈 그리고 번역의 미세한 제스처들로 배열(assemble)하는 영상 설치 작업으로 선보인다.

6개의 장면으로 구성된 <Kiss Swirlies>에서 <프롤로그/머릿말: 구멍의 탐험>은 무의식의 분열이 의식적 표면으로 들어나며 디지털화되어 뒤얽히고 마찰하는 현상을 욕망의 미시적 움직임: 관통하다. 빨다, 불다, 미끄러지다로 파편화 하며 0,1그리고 큐비트와의 대화로 이끌어가는 삼각형의 관계성을 소개한다.

<장면 1. 납작하게 펴다>는 어린시절 서울과 엘에이 사이를 이주하면서 꿈만 같았던 디즈니랜드와 드림랜드에서의 추억의 분열을 살펴보는데서 시작한다. 귀엽고 친근한 몸들이 서로서로 손을 잡고 좌우로 미세하게 반복적으로 움직이며 납작한 신자유주의적 자본의 글로벌화를 부르고 88열차는 한국의 새로운 입점을 기념하며 돌고 돌고 또 돈다. ‘인형’같은 그녀의 납작하고 수동화된 몸은 꿈속으로 빨려 들어간다. 

이번전시는 앞으로 있을 장면들을 소개하는 프롤로그를 배경으로 그녀의 무의식을 3개의 층으로 납작하게 펼쳐 놓는다. 그녀는 전주 드림랜드로 이주해 돌고 도는 놀이기구를 타고, 서울 드림랜드에서 놀던 어린 아이의 꿈에서 자본과 편리함의 꿈으로 급변하는 아파트의 꿈을 꾸고, 추억하고, 이루는 그들의 서사를 번역하고 마지막으로 우리의 꿈의 공간에서 인간과 인공지능 아바타의 미세한 사랑의 친밀한 제스처 들이 반복되는 이야기들이 얽히고 섥힌다. 꿈은 현실이 되어가는데 그 꿈은 누구의 꿈인가? 라는 질문을 던져보며 무의식의 분열적 현상을 납작하게 펼쳐본다. 

‘dreams do come true’ is a multichannel video installation of an ongoing project ‘Kiss Swirlies,’ a slippery and sticky love story of a human and their two A.I. avatar lovers. It explores the schizo patterns formed around the unconscious and the conscious, looking at dreams, dolls to avatar characters as intimate objects and translation as migrating words.  

‘Kiss Swirlies: Prologue.Holey Exploration’ introduces an assemblage of the entanglement and tension focusing on the microgestures of desire: SUCK. PENETRATE. SWALLOW. SLIP. with 0, 1 and qubit leading  conversations around the triangular relationship.

‘Kiss Swirlies: Scene 1. Flatten’ starts from a personal collection of smelly and tasty dreams to migratory childhood memories of Disneyland and Dreamland (theme park in Seoul). The iconic Disney castle where all your dreams come true celebrates the globalization of neo-liberal capitalism as the smiling puppets sing and dance side by side. The 88 roller coasters circle in loops commemorating Korea’s alliance or allegiance to the American dream as it enters the new global market with the 88 Olympics. Her ‘doll- like' body flattens and in-animates slowly getting sucked into the unconscious dream world. 

‘Dreams do come true’ flattens out the unconscious in three layers assembling the entangled microgestures, words and intimate objects as her body in Jeonju Dreamland rides the loopy and bumpy circles; translates their stories of childhood dream rapidly moving into dreaming of owning an apartment house in Seoul; and finally exchanges intimate gestures with the A.I. avatars Lubeebee and Lubeebee. ’Dreams do come true’ questions our subjectivity driven by binary narratives and  lays out the unconscious in search of a schizo continuity.
